Books – Children’s and More

It is always hard to find a good book. Here we want to share our experience with (mostly) our kids… We, and our kids have read all the books that are listed here and can give you our honest opinion.

To Start:

For Kids 4 and older – but your younger preschoolers would enjoy these books as well:

I love Elsa Beskow’s stories. The stories about the three Aunts and their adoptive children Peter and Lota are always full of interesting twist and turns with a sweet sense of family. Pelle earned his new coat by helping other people, Peter’s little advanture in blueberry land was so much fun, your little girls (and boys) won’t want to miss the Flower Festival… the list goes on. I haven’t found a book from her that I, or my 2 boys, don’t like. They read them over and over again.

“Elsa Beskow (1874-1953), born Elsa Maartman in Stockholm, was a pioneering author and illustrator of children’s books in Sweden perhaps the best known of all Swedish children’s book artists. Her books were inspired by her own childhood experiences, as well as those of her six children. Central themes were the relationships between children and adults and children’s independent initiative. Her books are continually reprinted, and many have become classics. She also illustrated ABC books and songbooks for Swedish schools.”

Amazon has a good selection of her books, and here’s the link to it:
